Jordann Baker has been performing, choreographing, and directing aerial theatre since 2006, performing everywhere from New York City, to the islands of Hawaii, to Durango, Colorado and El Salvador. She has performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival and The Famous Spiegeltent, specializing in aerial fabrics, rope, trapeze, and several invented apparatuses specifically designed by her for different works.

While in New York City, Jordann choreographed the aerial performance in the Broadway production of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher and starring Patti Lupone. She has choreographed for Parsons Dance and has performed extensively with Dzul Dance in their critically-acclaimed productions Danzon and Forest of Kings.

As a co-founder of Brooklyn’s The Sky Box and House of Yes Theatre, Jordann was one of the first performers to help cultivate New York City’s aerial arts community, teaching hundreds of students and producing a yearly student production to highlight the growth of each new aerialist. She is proud to have been on the forefront of the vibrant and growing aerial movement in New York City.

Jordann has had the pleasure of training with numerous talented and accomplished aerial performers. The list includes Elsie and Serenity Smith of Cirque du Soleil and the New England Center for Circus Arts; Anna Venizelos, also of Cirque du Soleil; Kevin O’Connor, graduate of Ecole Nationale du Cirque in Montreal, as well as training with other instructors at Ecole Nationale itself, and at Circus Space in London.

Inspired by nature and the world around her, Jordann has also created site-specific aerial performances in the Hawaiian Islands, most recently bringing together performers from across the U.S. for a training intensive culminating in a unique fire and aerial production called Nomadic Alchemy in Honolulu, HI.

Jordann is a versatile and dynamic performer, showing her talents in numerous productions in New York City, as well as everything from weddings to rock concerts to art openings and corporate events. She currently lives in Los Angeles and teaches at Cirque School LA (www.cirqueschoolla.com). Jordann performs in and around the Los Angeles area while cultivating her passion for visual arts, strumming the ukulele, and developing new aerial work.
